Back To California
In Blue Hawaii
November 21, 2005
Twas a lovely 11 days in the Aloha State! Swimming, snorkeling, eating, golfing and tennis were the highlights of the trip, and the Lord was good in giving us a completely rain-free vacation. Now join me as we visit Maui, one of the most popular of the islands.

Waiting in the L.A. Airport for our plane to paradise, where that sweatshirt will be quickly discarded.

Mahalo momma sporting her newly purchased lei in the Maui airport.
Our condo, kindly lended to us by a friend. The view is beautiful.
The entire complex from the beach side. Ours is the third one back, second floor.
Incredible sunsets EVERY evening, painted by the Almighty Artist.
Hawaii means many different things to many different people. For us, it means golf. We played a lot of it, and here are shown Jer and Danni practicing at a nice range.
And yours truly taking a rest from my arduous golf practicing.
Another one of my famous self-photographs, which you've come to know all too well.
I love how well-kempt most things in Hawaii are. The trees, grass, plants ... nothing quite like it.
And then, of course, there's the beach, something Kalea especially enjoyed.
Kalea's Hawaiian Dreams
Mom, dad, Jer and Danni enjoying the water. It was about 78 degrees, perfect for snorkeling and riding waves. I did keep a look out for sharks, and thankfully didn't see any.
Dad after catching (or more like getting wiped out by) a wave.
Mother dearest after spending a lovely time in the sea.
I really got into the spirit, evidenced by my Hawaiian greeting (means like "hang loose" or "take it easy").
Danni, Jer and mom, with Kalea doing her usual beach napping.

Other residences near our place. Beautifully manicured to say the least.
Couldn't help but take a snapshot of such beauty. Unlike the other pics, I saved this one as two separate larger sizes for use as wallpaper if you like.
Danielle and Kalea in the kitchen. That's a pretty cute outfit, Kalea.
In the kitchen making lunch.
This fancy fridge, of course, is normally meant for fine wine. For us, it's for fine Ginger Ale.
Mother dearest in the walkway of our condominium.
Tennis was also on our 'to-do' list. Here we see mom's incredible forehand.
And here we see dad's ... incredible ... backhand.
Jeremy was the official chef of our vacation, and made some awesome fish meals.
I can't remember what kinds these were, but they were tasty. I think they were Ahi, Mahi Mahi, and some kind of butterfish. Yes, it's soft and very good, hence the name.
Dad flexing his muscle (or bone, rather).
Another self-shot. For you Sensates, yes, that's a gash in the side of my head. I wanted to do a little trimming on the sides, so used dad's razor, which I'm not accustomed to using. To put it lightly, I botched it, and was the laughingstock of all Polynesian people on the island.
Drier part of Maui, but still beautiful. It's greener at the tops where the clouds are prone to frequent.
Ok, this is the Plantation, one of the nicest golf courses on all the islands and where pro golf tournaments are played. I can brag about it cause we got on free, thanks to the football coach of Hawaii State University. Anyway, talk about a difficult course! Beautiful, but deadly, like cotton candy (what?).
Another look at the beautiful surroundings.
Mother, father and child. Pretty obvious which side Kalea takes from, huh? :-)
Yours truly. I can't remember the name of that island in the background, but it's small and uninhabited (unless it's Lanai, which I don't think it is).
Nice follow-through.
Now this is cool. In every golf cart there's this screen that shows you the hole, how far you are from the pin, and how far the group ahead of you is. Almost takes the game out of the game.
Dad on impact, with the Mercedes Championship sign in the background.

Jeremy in the foreground, dad in the background, with beautiful hills in the distance.
Kalea was a real sport, enduring the whole day in a golf cart! She was happy to finally go that night.

Whelp, we're all packed and headed for the airport. It's been a fun trip, but I'm ready to go home.

On the Hawaiian licence plate is a rainbow, and if you go there you'll quickly see why. This was probably the most vibrant and up close rainbow I have ever seen in my life. It literally looked like a bridge built over us. In any case, a comforting reminder of God's promise that He would never flood the entire earth again.

Oh man ... red-eye flight. Mom and I slept on those cots for a few hours. The End!
