Voyage To The Garden Island
September 28 , 2006
Kauai is unarguably the most beautiful of the Hawaiian islands. Nicknamed the "Garden Island," it sports one of the wettest places on earth, while also appearing in such movies as Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, etc. Our trip this time was probably our best, with wonderful weather and fun adventures. I cannot put into words how beautiful Kauai is, and even the pictures don't do justice. Remember that you can click pictures to expand them. Anyway, let us now, if you are willing, embark on a lovely blog voyage to this wonderful paradise.
We begin with the swaying palms in the warm breeze underneath the endless sky of blue.
Jeremy and Danielle kindly helping some newlyweds find a lost wedding ring. After about fifteen minutes, lo and behold, Jeremy found it.
Mother Dearest enjoying the sun and water.
Kalea gently sleeping.
Kalea ... um ... gently drinking.
And of course we had to play some golf. Check out how green that is.
One thing Kauai has is a lot of wild chickens. They're hilarious. Here's one just casually walking by on the golf course.
Golf wouldn't be complete without grandma and "Ka Ka" in attendance.
Danielle tees off. Don't worry, she won't hit those people. She can't hit that far. :-)
Jeremy cleans up trash at a lovely place called Secret Beach. It was hilarious. This group of horseback riders went by, and the leader saw him gathering trash, and he goes, "People around here are the best people on earth. See this man picking up trash? He doesn't even live here. Thanks, bro!" Inside Jeremy was like, "How do you know I don't live here?" I'm like, "Jeremy, you're as white as a blanket, you don't wear a necklace, and look at the clothes you're wearing." lol.
Yours truly at Secret Beach.
And now I magically appear in the background. Yes, that dot is me.
Mudder and fodder.
Ahh yes. And you thought the infamous self-shots were a thing of the past. Get used to them. There's plenty more coming.
Indescribable beauty and power. The waves crashing against the rocks, the wind, the scenery ... just overwhelming.
I brave the elements.
The pool outside our condo was really cool. Waterfalls, and a nice slide.
Lovely couple, and a very lovely restaurant.
Umm ... this pic was meant to show our room. Can't see much. At least you get to see another pic of me.
Off to the north part of the island with Jeremy, Danielle and Kalea. Took this picture by standing out of the sun roof. Takes talent.
Lovely fields and mountains.
I love this picture I took of Kalea. Almost gives you a glimpse of what she'll look like at 16.
On the hike. The trail ran along a large mountain with the sea on the opposite side. Spectacular.
More beauty.
Oh, you wanted another self-shot? Ok!
Tell me Jeremy doesn't look like a tourist. I love how the wind made his hat blow up to look like a sombero.
What can be said?
Kalea was such a trooper. Didn't complain at all.
Hawaiian art.
Stopping and enjoying some lunch.
How's that for foliage?
Our condos from a distance.
Here is my pathetic attempt at trying to put three separate photographs together to create a panoramic shot of our living area. Wide open, with lovely grass and the ocean just on the opposite side of those other condos.
Evening beauty on the island.
Having some evening fun.
Jeremy holds a red glowing frisbee, while Kalea sports a green light-up light stick. You'll notice the bright star in the sky. Hawaii has incredible stars. Like crystals in the sky.
