Well, to make a long story short, we did a quick internet search for a reformed church on Kauai, and by God's grace found one! So we walk in Sunday morning, and Melissa turns to a girl and is like, "Wait, do I know you?" Like, yeah! Apparently they had met back at some conference in Plymouth, Massachusetts, when the Thanes, the family, used to live there. Talk about a divine appointment! Anyway, so they invited us to their beautiful home for dinner, and what a home it was.

Like a William Sonoma advertisement.

Check that out. Can you imagine just leaving a huge opening in your house like that all the time? Outside is like the inside for islanders. So awesome.

And a huge backyard. Oh goodness ... ok ... like see where all those trees and bushes are out there at the edge of the yard? Guess where this next picture was taken ...

Yep, we're thieves. This picture was taken in July on our honeymoon when we found a huge mango tree and ... well ... just helped ourselves. Ok, now technically, they don't own the far side of the tree, so, you know, we didn't exactly steal from them. Anyway, we all had a great laugh over it.

The Thanes.

Back home we enjoy another ocean evening together.

Beautiful.

Beauty unsurpassed.

Here's an interesting beach for you, so named "Glass Beach". Take a wild guess why. Yep, it's covered in little pebbles of glass. I guess years ago the nearby glass factory used to dump their glass in the ocean, and over time it's broken down and smoothed out to become what you see here.

A closer look.

Ever closer. Isn't that cool?

Hmmm ... this looks familiar ...

Hah! Three years ago in Kauai. Adorable.

Ok, so like, there's this thing called "Salt Pond" or something, and supposedly it's a tourist site, so like we go there, and it's the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life. What a waste of time. For a joke, tell anyone visiting Kauai to be sure to stop by salt pond! Incredible!!!

Now that's what I call relaxed. Supposedly there's only like 40 or so of these seals left on the islands, so whenever they make it on the beach the local authorities put a rope fence around them to keep curious people away.

That's pretty cute. Tub of lard.

I scope the horizon.

Hey there, girl! Lookin' good! Had some fun with Jer and Danni on the local golf range.

Not sure what to say here.

The two NFPs. Keoni is either ENFP or INFP, and we're thinking E. Close enough! :-)

More of Meliss, after a HUGE rain.

Check that out! Not supposed to be a lake there. I think there was 14-16 inches of rain in like 24 hours.

With the Thanes and their church family. They took this picture for like their official Kauai Reformed Church photograph, so I'm sure there will be a few double-takes from our friends when they see us in like some magazine or something representing the Reformed Church of Kauai. :-)

Couldn't pass up this one.

So picturesque. Went to visit a lighthouse on the north part of the island that had an amazing view.

Looking for whales. Supposedly Jeremy and Danielle saw one breach when Meliss and I were off doing something else, but I don't believe them for a second.

Look at that sky.

Almost started to cry when I saw this cat. Looked exactly like Pookie (who died over a year ago). Truly, she did die and go to heaven. :-)

Well, Jeremy had a little ear episode where he lost like 50% of his hearing in his right ear. Finally later in California he visited a doctor who took out a big piece of wax that was basically attached to his eardrum. Eww!!! Gross!!! Anyway, Danni did her best with ear candling. Jer was like, "Is this going on the blog?"

Check out the size of that slug! Or whatever it is! Looks like the wax that was found in Jeremy's ear! Eww!

Had some great rounds of tennis with my lovely bride.

Talk about a great workout! Meliss got some good exercise by swimming against the current of the pool waterslide.

Look, mommy! Look!!! YOU'RE NOT LOOKING!!!

Any faithful viewers recognize this pose?

Ok, not the exact same. Sue me.

Aloha.

See that dot in the water towards the bottom right? That's me. Wasn't long before I booked it out of there, running like crazy with everyone back to our hotel room soaked like a sponge. Hah! It was great.

Tis the last day, and we're out again at another lovely beach on the north side of the island.

Love these types of natural life pictures.

A slightly good one, Meliss. :-)

Madly in love ... till the end of time.

All these flowers were just so pretty. Got my bum all wet here, though, and had to change shorts. What a way to ruin a perfectly fantastic vacation.

And it's now time for our red-eye flight to California! But don't leave now, there's still another exciting page! So ... click the link below and join us for the last leg of our trip!
